What
are inverter chargers? As the name suggests, these are inverters (normally sine wave) and battery chargers in the one unit. How does an inverter/charger operate? The inverter/charger will operate as an inverter supplying household loads or as a battery charger when the generator is running the household loads. Usually these inverter/chargers are also capable of running synchronously with a generator to provide extra power (e.g. 3kVA inverter + 5kVA generator = 8kVA available power). What are some advantages of an inverter/charger? When an inverter/charger of this type is chosen for a power installation, the generator size can be less than would have otherwise been chosen. These inverter/chargers can also signal the start-up of the generator when the inverter load is too large or when the battery state of charge falls below a pre-set level. |
