What
does a regulator or controller do? A regulator or controller is connected between the charging source, e.g. solar module array, wind and/or microhydro generator, and the battery bank. It prevents overcharging of the battery bank by monitoring power input (and sometimes output) and battery voltage. Many different models are available, some with sophisticated digital metering and some without.
